Social Networking Icons

  • One thing that people often want to add to their website is Social Media Sharing Tools
  • What that allows you to do, is when a visitor finds something of interest on your site they can share it with their friends
  • This can include tweeting it on twitter, adding it to facebook, bookmarking it, mailing it and much more
  • There are other options to share with StumbleUpon, Technorati, Squidoo and others
  • So go to Add New, under Plugins on the left sidebar of your Dashboard
  • The name of the plugin we use in the example is SexyBookmarks, type it into the search box and hit Search Plugins
  • It should be the top of the results. Click Install now under the correct one
  • When it's installed, now click Activate Plugin
  • Now it will say that SexyBookmarks has been activated but needs to be configured, click Visit Plugin Options Page
  • Scroll down the page a little to see all of the icons, which are ticked or checked
  • In our example we chose to click None, to disable them all, then clicked Most Popular to just select the main ones
  • You can go through the numerous icons and tick or untick any you wish
  • When done scroll down, the default settings were fine for us, scroll down further to the Background Image options
  • Choose one that you prefer and click the box beside to select it, we clicked "Share and Enjoy"
  • Scroll down further. Now we have to tell it where we want to put the Social Media Icons
  • Below content is standard, but do you want it on all Posts & Pages, or just on Posts, or other options
  • Choose what suits you best, we chose on everything for the minute, and when ready click Save Changes
  • Go to your home page, or the relevant post, click refresh and it should appear where you've requested it
